Batteries and boat electrics
Capacity determines how many hours the fishfinder, electric motor and lights will run. Lithium batteries are lighter and last longer; lead-acid ones are cheaper.
Who this model suits best.
By capacity
Add up the current draw of all devices and multiply by the hours. With a lead-acid battery, only half the capacity is usable in practice.
By type
Lithium (LiFePO4) weighs roughly a third as much and withstands more cycles; AGM is cheaper and more resistant to vibration.
Don't forget the charger
A lithium battery needs a dedicated charger. An unsuitable charger shortens its service life or doesn't charge it at all.
