Electric trolling motor
A quiet motor that lets you approach a fishing spot precisely and hold position without an anchor. When choosing, the most important factors are thrust, shaft length and voltage.
Who this model suits best.
By thrust
Rule of thumb — at least 2 pounds (lbs) of thrust for every 45 kg of boat weight including gear. In windy waters, choose one with some margin to spare.
By shaft length
The motor's propeller must be at least 30 cm under water. A higher gunwale needs a longer shaft, otherwise the propeller will grab air in waves.
By voltage
Up to 55 lbs, 12 V and a single battery are enough; more powerful models need 24 V or 36 V, i.e. two or three batteries.
