Whether the boat holds its position depends on the anchor type and the rope length. It's worth matching the kit to the bottom and the size of the boat.
Who this model suits best.
By bottom type
For sand and mud, plough and Danforth-type anchors work best; for rocky bottoms — mushroom or grapnel types.
By rope length
Typically you pay out 5–7 times more rope than the depth. A short rope simply tips the anchor over rather than letting it dig in.
By boat weight
Anchor weight is chosen according to the boat's length and wind exposure; an anchor that is too light will drag, while one that is too heavy is hard to raise by hand.
